Tahoe Rim Trail

When You're Going Through Hell, Keep Going

In 2017 I went backpacking for three weeks along the Tahoe Rim Trail. Broken up into three segments, with two zero days in Reno, I hiked for over 100 miles by myself, often sleeping in wilderness areas with no one else I could see or hear. I encountered bears, marmots, deer, chipmunks, and a bald eagle. This trip gave me some much needed insight into who I was, where I had been, and where I was going next. Although physically demanded, ultimately the greatest challenge along the trail was my own mind.

Just like anything else in life, the mental challenges we face are harder than the climbing the tallest mountains, conquering Asia, or becoming the richest person in the world. It is possible to do all of those things, but still not find peace and security within one's own mind.

Hiking on the rim trail helped at a time when I needed it most, and I will always remember this experience fondly.

For more detailed information about the trip, I have split the story into three segments:

Galena Creek to Kingsbury Grade
